Tonle Sap

One time on each travel you have to fall for the tourist trap...

As often in life the journey itself is the reward, rather than the intended goal.
Our boat trip (one hour for USD 20/ per person in a country with an average yearly income of USD 300!) reminded us of a retail event.
However, the journey to the lake with our tuk-tuk (comfy two seat trailer/ sofa pulled by a motorbike) was well worth the drive and gave us a better picture to Cambodia than the somewhat more touristy town of Siem Reap.

Despite the retail character of the trip, it was interesting to see people living on house boats/ houses constructed upon many wooden poles up the river and where the river met the lake - an entire community with shop boats, restaurant, school, etc.

Those kids really seem to be having a having time there, did you get to try that out?

I coudn't help but notice that the kids are using "traditional" wooden paddles ... and not the 500 dollar carbon paddles. Isn't that swell!!!
