Worldcup Semi Finals in India

Who would have thought it, but we really managed to catch the entire game, even though it was pretty early in the morning. A crowd of around 50 people had gathered for an independent Fifa fan fest in the World Peace Cafe to watch Germany play Italy in the semi finals. We were joined by three other Germans, two girls having brought their fan dress and singing "Berlin, Berlin, wir fahren nach Berlin" all through the game, as well as other fan songs to enlighten the crowd (Thank god that at least Sabine knew the words...). To our surprise, quite a number of non Germans were passionate about our team. The football hype has proven to be a global topic. All in all, it was a pretty different sort of football viewing, far away and yet a part.
